개인정보 처리방침
Mollu(이하 “앱”)는 스크린샷, 사진, 카메라로 찍은 장면 속 글자를 인식해 번역하는 iPhone·iPad 앱입니다. 앱은 회원 가입이 없고, 광고·분석·추적 도구를 쓰지 않습니다. 사용자가 문제 보고를 보내거나 진단 정보 자동 보내기를 켠 경우를 제외하면, 개발자는 사용자의 정보를 수집하거나 전달받지 않습니다.
1. 기기 안에서 처리하는 정보
- 스크린샷, 사진, 카메라: 단축어로 전달받은 스크린샷, 사용자가 고른 사진, 앱의 “카메라로 번역”으로 찍은 사진에서 앱에 들어 있는 기기 내 문자 인식 모델(PP-OCR, 일부 언어는 Apple의 Vision)로 글자를 읽고, 기본 설정에서는 Apple의 기기 내 번역(Translation)으로 번역합니다. 이 과정은 기기 안에서 이루어집니다. 카메라로 찍은 사진은 사진 보관함에 저장되지 않으며, 번역 기록을 켠 경우에만 아래 번역 기록에 함께 보관됩니다.
- 소리 내어 읽기: 번역문 목록에서 읽기를 누르면 iOS의 기기 내 음성 합성으로 읽습니다.
- 번역 기록: 번역한 화면(번역 이미지, 원본 이미지, 인식한 글자와 번역문)은 사용자가 정한 기간 동안만 기기에 저장됩니다. 기본 보관 기간은 7일이며, 설정에서 저장 안 함 / 1일 / 7일 / 30일 / 영구 중에서 고를 수 있습니다. 기간이 지나면 자동으로 지워지고, 언제든 직접 지울 수 있습니다. 기록은 최대 200개까지 보관되며, 넘으면 오래된 기록부터 지워집니다(영구 포함). 번역 기록은 iCloud 백업에서 제외됩니다.
- 설정: 번역 언어, 엔진 선택, 용어집(사용자가 등록한 원문과 번역) 등 앱 설정은 기기에 저장됩니다.
- API 키: 사용자가 입력한 AI 번역 서비스 API 키는 기기의 키체인에만 저장되며, 다른 기기로 동기화되지 않습니다.
2. 외부로 전송되는 정보 (선택 기능)
설정에서 AI 번역(Claude, GPT, Gemini)을 쓰기로 하고, 해당 서비스로의 전송에 동의한 경우에만 다음과 같이 전송됩니다.
- 전송 내용: 스크린샷·사진에서 인식한 글자와 번역할 언어, 그리고 용어집에 등록한 용어 중 그 글자에 들어 있는 것. 이미지는 전송하지 않습니다.
- 받는 곳: 사용자가 고른 서비스의 제공자(Anthropic, OpenAI, Google). 앱은 사용자가 입력한 API 키로 해당 서비스에 직접 요청하며, 개발자의 서버를 거치지 않습니다.
- 처리 기준: 전송된 글자는 사용자의 API 계정에서 각 제공자의 정책에 따라 처리됩니다. Anthropic · OpenAI · Google
- 동의는 설정에서 언제든 철회할 수 있으며, 철회하면 해당 서비스로 더 이상 전송하지 않습니다.
문제 보고: 설정 → 문제 보고에서 사용자가 직접 보내기를 누른 경우에만, 사용자가 작성한 설명과 진단 정보가 개발자의 보고 서버(mollu.nyabi.me)로 전송됩니다. 진단 정보에는 앱 버전, 기기 모델, iOS 버전, 언어·번역 설정, 최근 번역의 성공·실패 여부와 소요 시간·오류 메시지, iOS가 제공하는 충돌·멈춤 진단(MetricKit)이 담기며, 번역한 글자와 이미지, API 키는 담기지 않습니다. 보내기 전에 내용을 확인할 수 있습니다. 진단 정보는 기기에 최근 50건의 번역 기록과 10건의 충돌 진단까지만 보관되며, 문제 보고 화면에서 지울 수 있습니다.
진단 정보 자동 보내기: 사용자가 처음 안내나 설정 → 진단에서 켠 경우에만, 번역이 전부 실패하거나(한 시간에 최대 한 번) iOS가 충돌·멈춤 진단을 전달할 때 위와 같은 진단 정보가 보고 서버로 자동 전송됩니다. 기본값은 꺼짐입니다.
보고 서버는 보낸 사람의 IP 주소를 저장하지 않습니다(요청 횟수 제한에만 메모리에서 잠깐 쓰고 버립니다). 보고가 도착하면 개발자에게 알리기 위해 알림 서비스 ntfy.sh로 앱 버전, 기기 모델과 iOS 버전, 오류 메시지, 설명의 글자 수, 보고 파일 이름만 전달하며, 사용자가 작성한 설명은 전달하지 않습니다. 받은 보고는 문제 해결에만 사용하고, 해결 후 지체 없이 삭제하며, 늦어도 90일 뒤 자동으로 삭제됩니다. 문제 보고를 보내면 앱에 보고 번호가 표시됩니다. 보낸 보고를 지우고 싶으면 아래 문의처로 보고 번호(모르면 보낸 날짜와 기기 모델)를 알려 주세요.
Apple 번역 언어팩은 iOS가 Apple 서버에서 내려받으며, 이는 Apple 개인정보 처리방침을 따릅니다.
3. 권한
- 카메라: “카메라로 번역” 화면을 열었을 때만 카메라를 켜고, 셔터를 누른 사진 한 장만 번역에 씁니다. 동영상과 소리는 녹화하지 않습니다.
- 사진 선택: 사용자가 고른 사진만 앱에 전달됩니다. 앱은 사진 보관함 전체를 읽지 않습니다.
- 사진 보관함에 추가: 사용자가 공유 메뉴에서 저장을 고를 때만 번역 이미지를(원본과 함께 저장을 고르면 원본 이미지도) 저장합니다.
- Face ID: 번역 기록 잠금을 켠 경우 iOS가 인증을 처리하며, 앱은 생체 정보에 접근하지 않습니다.
4. 보관과 삭제
앱이 저장한 정보는 모두 사용자의 기기에 있습니다. 설정 → 번역 기록 → 기록 모두 삭제로 지우거나, 앱을 삭제하면 함께 지워집니다. 단, API 키는 iOS 키체인 특성상 앱을 삭제해도 기기에 남을 수 있으며, 앱을 다시 설치해 처음 실행할 때 지워집니다. 바로 지우려면 앱을 삭제하기 전에 설정에서 API 키를 비워 주세요.
5. 아동
앱은 아동을 대상으로 하지 않으며, 아동의 개인정보를 수집하지 않습니다.

이 방침이 바뀌면 이 페이지에 새 시행일과 함께 게시합니다.

Privacy Policy
Mollu (“the app”) is an iPhone and iPad app that recognizes and translates text in screenshots, photos, and scenes you capture with the camera. The app has no accounts and no advertising, analytics, or tracking tools. Except for problem reports you send and diagnostics you choose to send automatically, the developer does not collect or receive your information.
1. Information processed on your device
- Screenshots, photos, and camera: Text in a screenshot passed from Shortcuts, a photo you pick, or a photo taken with the app’s “Translate with Camera” is read with the on-device text recognition model built into the app (PP-OCR, or Apple’s Vision for some languages) and, by default, translated with Apple’s on-device Translation framework. This happens on your device. Camera photos are not saved to your photo library; they are kept in your translation history only if history is turned on.
- Read Aloud: when you tap Read Aloud in the translation list, iOS’s on-device speech synthesis reads the text.
- Translation history: Translated screens (translated image, original image, recognized text and translations) are kept on your device only for the period you choose. The default is 7 days; you can choose Off, 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, or Forever in Settings. Expired items are deleted automatically, and you can delete them at any time. Up to 200 items are kept (including with Forever); beyond that, the oldest are deleted first. History is excluded from iCloud backups.
- Settings: App settings such as the target language, engine, and glossary (terms and translations you add) are stored on your device.
- API keys: API keys you enter for AI translation services are stored only in your device’s Keychain and are not synced to other devices.
2. Information sent off your device (optional)
Only if you choose AI translation (Claude, GPT, or Gemini) in Settings and consent to sending text to that service:
- What is sent: the recognized text and the target language, plus any glossary terms that appear in that text. Images are never sent.
- Recipient: the provider you selected (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google). The app sends requests directly to that service with your own API key; nothing passes through the developer’s servers.
- Processing: the text is processed under your API account according to the provider’s policies: Anthropic · OpenAI · Google
- You can withdraw consent in Settings at any time; after that, no text is sent to that service.
Problem reports: Only when you tap Send in Settings → Report a Problem, your description and diagnostic information are sent to the developer’s report server (mollu.nyabi.me). Diagnostics include the app version, device model, iOS version, language and translation settings, whether recent translations succeeded along with their durations and error messages, and crash/hang diagnostics provided by iOS (MetricKit). They never include the translated text, images, or API keys, and you can review everything before sending. Your device keeps only the latest 50 translation results and 10 crash diagnostics, which you can delete from the Report a Problem screen.
Automatic diagnostics: Only if you turn this on during setup or in Settings → Diagnostics, the same diagnostic information is sent to the report server automatically when a translation fails completely (at most once an hour) or when iOS delivers crash/hang diagnostics. It is off by default.
The report server does not store your IP address (it is held briefly in memory for rate limiting only). To notify the developer that a report arrived, only the app version, device model and iOS version, error message, the length of your description, and the report file name are passed to the notification service ntfy.sh; your written description is not. Reports are used only to fix problems, are deleted once resolved, and are automatically deleted after 90 days at the latest. After you send a problem report, the app shows a report number. To have a report you sent deleted, contact us below with the report number (or the date you sent it and your device model).
Apple Translation language packs are downloaded by iOS from Apple, subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
3. Permissions
- Camera: the camera is on only while the “Translate with Camera” screen is open, and only the single photo you take is used for translation. No video or audio is recorded.
- Photo picker: only the photos you select are given to the app. The app does not read your whole library.
- Add to Photos: a translated image is saved only when you choose to save it from the share sheet.
- Face ID: if you lock your history, iOS handles authentication; the app never accesses biometric data.
4. Retention and deletion
Everything the app stores stays on your device. Delete it in Settings → History → Delete All History, or by deleting the app. API keys are an exception: because of how the iOS Keychain works, they may remain on the device after the app is deleted, and are removed the first time the app is launched after reinstalling. To remove them right away, clear your API keys in Settings before deleting the app.
5. Children
The app is not directed to children and does not collect children’s personal information.
6. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
